A New Era in Dental Restoration

Tired of dealing with the limitations of traditional dentures? Snap-in implant dentures offer a revolutionary solution that can transform your smile and your life. By securely anchoring your dentures to dental implants, you can experience unparalleled comfort, stability, and functionality.

The Benefits of Snap-In Implant Dentures

  • Enhanced Eating Experience: Enjoy your favorite foods with confidence, knowing that your dentures are firmly in place.
  • Improved Speech: Speak clearly and confidently without worrying about your dentures slipping or shifting.
  • Boosted Self-Esteem: A beautiful, natural-looking smile can boost your self-confidence and overall quality of life.
  • Preserved Jawbone Health: Dental implants stimulate the jawbone, preventing bone loss and maintaining facial structure.
  • Long-Lasting Solution: With proper care, snap-in implant dentures can last for many years.

A Superior Alternative to Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures, while a common and affordable option, can present several challenges. Limited chewing power, speech difficulties, and social embarrassment due to potential slippage are common issues. The constant movement of dentures can also irritate gums and accelerate bone loss in the jaw. Additionally, the coverage of the palate by upper dentures can trigger a gag reflex in many individuals.

Snap-in implant dentures offer a superior solution by addressing these limitations. By securing the denture to dental implants, they provide enhanced chewing power, improved speech clarity, increased comfort, and preservation of jawbone. The smaller and more stable design of implant-supported dentures often minimizes the gag reflex.

Are You a Candidate for Snap-In Implant Dentures?

Most people who are missing teeth are good candidates for snap-in implant dentures. During a consultation at DentRight Dental San Antonio, our experienced dentists will assess your oral health and discuss your treatment options.

The Snap-In Implant Denture Procedure

The snap-in implant denture procedure involves several steps:
  • Dental Implant Placement: Our dentists will surgically place dental implants into your jawbone.
  • Healing Period: Allow sufficient time for the implants to fuse with the bone (osseointegration).
  • Abutment Attachment: Once the implants have healed, abutments will be attached to them.
  • Denture Creation: Custom-made dentures will be created to fit securely over the abutments.

Recovery After Procedure

To ensure a smooth recovery after your procedure, keep ice packs handy to reduce swelling and discomfort. Disposable washcloths will make cleaning easy, and comfortable, disposable clothing can prevent staining. Stick to a soft food diet, including soups, yogurt, cottage cheese, smoothies, protein shakes, eggs, and mashed potatoes.

While your new implant teeth will be much easier to adapt to than traditional dentures, it will still take some practice. Just like learning to use a prosthetic leg, you may need time to adjust to the feel and function of your new teeth. Initially, you might experience some difficulty with certain sounds, particularly “s” sounds. Practicing words like “Mississippi” and “sixty six” can help. In some cases, a slight lisp may persist long-term.

Snap-In Implant Dentures Procedure Timeline

The entire snap-in implant denture process, from start to finish, typically takes about 6 months.

1

Procedure

The initial step involves the removal of any remaining teeth and any other required oral surgeries. Then, dental implants are placed into the jawbone. These implants are typically not visible and will remain undisturbed for at least 4 months to allow for osseointegration, the process of bone fusing with the implant.

2

Post Op

The day after your procedure, you'll have a follow-up appointment to assess your oral health, ensure proper denture fit, and address any concerns you may have.

3

Soft Liners / Soft Re-Fittings

Soft liners are temporary cushions placed within your dentures during the healing process. They help fill gaps between your gums and dentures, providing comfort and improving the fit of your dentures.

4

Uncovery

Uncovery is a minor surgical procedure where the implants are exposed and small healing abutments are placed on top. This step is essential for shaping the gum tissue and preparing for the final placement of your snap-in dentures.

5

Attachment of Implants to Dentures

The final step involves replacing the healing abutments with denture abutments, followed by the attachment of your dentures to the implants. This process can typically be completed in one day, although it may occasionally take slightly longer.

Caring for Your Invisalign Aligners

The number of implants you'll need depends on the specific location and your jawbone's density. Generally, an upper denture requires at least 4 implants, while a lower denture needs a minimum of 2. However, for optimal stability, especially in the lower jaw, 3 or 4 implants are often recommended. Your dentist will assess your individual needs and recommend the best course of treatment.
